One incoming Jackson County Legislator has spoken out about interim County Executive Phil LeVota’s federal indictment for bribery, which was announced last week.

A new World Fresh Market opened last week in the Northland, another oasis in an area that many have called a food desert.

Families along with their school bound students just kept coming forming long lines this past weekend at this year’s Guadalupe Centers (GCI) annual Back to School event. Kids with big smiles got to pick their own backpack along with other school supplies. Other students got a new hairdo.

The Mattie Rhodes Center and Telemundo Kansas City Spanish television station hosted their annual Mattie Rhodes Back-to-School event on Thursday, August 6, bringing together over 400 families and 25 community partners for an afternoon focused on preparing students for a successful school year.
